Nicholas's Math Parent Quiz Post

Here are the questions.

Ratio Rate Proportion (Nicholas's Proportion Post)
Peter runs 200 m in 30s while his sister Eva runs 300 m in 36s.

  • Who is the faster runner? Explain how you can tell.
  • At the same rate, how far will each runner go in 2 minutes?

  Percent
A bicycle is on sale for 10% off the origional price of $420. when it does not sell, the store reduces the sale price by another 5%.  What is the final price of the bicycle?

Surface Area
Calculate the Surface Area of the net below.

Fractions (Nicholas's Fraction Scribepost)
Chad likes to eat Honeycomb for breakfast every day.  He eats 3/4 of a box per week.

  • How much of the box does he eat each day?
  • How many boxes of Honeycomb does he eat each year?

Nicholas Ben and Taylor's UnProject Algebra

This is  a class video project we made to explain some algebra

Some things in this project is :
what is a variable, Constant, and coefficient

We focus on three questions in two step multiply,  two step division, and distributive property.

Have Fun and we hope you will enjoy the videos ! :D

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
http://youtu.be/jrt4UkOMavY

Sorry the insert is not working for me

The way we get all the answer  in this video we will tell you down below.

First you have to isolate the variable by using a zero pair to get rid of the constant then use the opposite operation to get the variable by itself.

The hardest is the distributive property That is the one with the brackets. You must get rid of the brackets by making the variable combined with the number outside the brackets and times the number inside the brackets by the one in the outside brackets to start isolating the new equation.

How you can draw one of the questions we will show here

Nicholas's Algebra Post

Chapter 9 practice test

6. If the equation is is s = -4x + 2, the value for s in (-1,s) is 6

A way to check the answer is to make a table of values

8. The graph shows the cost of a new drink called Zap

A) What is the price per can of Zap?
The price for each can of Zap is $3

B) Describe three patterns on the graph
One pattern is that n goes up by 1, cost goes up by 3 and it goes over 1 up 3 repeating

9.The pattern can be represented by the formula b = 4f, where b is the number of black dots and f is the figure number.

A) Make a table of values for the number of black dots in figure 1 to 5

B) use the formula to determine the number of black dots in figure 60
The answer to the question is  240 black dots

10. The formula for the pattern below is s = 2f + 1, where s is the number small squares and f is the figure number

A) Make a table of values for the first 5 in the pattern

B) Draw a graph to show the relationship

 c) Is the relationship linear? Explain
The graph is not linear  because it does not do a constant pattern from the beginning to the end

I will do five integer questions from our quiz with a number line, and the answer

Question 1. 1 - 9 = (-8)

Question 2. 9 + 9 = 18

Question 3. 10 = 6 = 16

Question 4. 8 + (-5) = 3

Question 5. (-9) - (-7) = (-2)

Nicholas's Fraction Scribepost

Textbook Chapter 6.5 Page 228 11,12,13

11. In a comedy review, each performer has a 1/4 hour slot. How many performers are there in a 2 hour show?

1/4 x 4 = 4/4 = 1 hour 1/4 x 8 = 8/4 = 2 hours
1/4 each performer and 8 performer is a total of 2 hours

12. It takes 2 1/2 scoops of flour to make one cake. how many do 15 scoops make?

2 1/2 + 2 1/2 = 5 x 3 = 15
2 1/2 x 4 = 10
2 1/2 x 6 = 15

13. Three quarters of a can of apple juice fills six glass. How many glass will  a whole can of apple juice fill?

3/4 is 6 glass's divide that by three and it's 2 or 1/4 add that to 3/4 that's 4/4, 8 glass or 1 can of juice.

Nicholas's Proportion Post

Part 1

Ratio- A relationship of numbers of the same unit ex 5:4

Rate- A rate in where there second term is one 20km/h

Proportion- An equation that says two ratios/rates are equal. can be written as fraction/rate 1:4=4:16

Part 2

5 hours to travel 360 kilometers is about 75km/h

Emma saves 28 cents of every dollar that she earns.  Emma earned $75 last week.  How much money did Emma save last week?    Emma saved $21 dollars this week

 Part 3

  3/4 = 12/16
3x4=12 4x4=16 = 12/16

12÷4=3 4÷4=4 = 3/4

Part 4

Part 5

1. Does this seem fair? No because he did give it back

3. Why have you made this choice? Because he brought back all the money and told the cops.
