Bianca's Pay It Forward

Part 1- What is Pay It Forward?
Pay It Forward is a chain of acts of kindness, you do it without asking anything in return. It all starts with one person helping three other people and each of those three people help three more other people, and so on. That shows that one simple action can make a big difference in the world, every action counts whether it's big or small.

Part 2
  • What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
My Pay It Forward act of kindness was I donated over 30 books to the Children’s Library in Health Science Center, my partner, Patricia Rodriguez, donated about 20 books too.
  • Why did you choose this activity?
I chose this activity because I wanted to share the fun and great things to learn from literature. I also had some books that were just sitting on my shelf that I have already read, so I thought donating it to a library was a great idea.
  • Who did you help?
I helped the library in the hospital and also the people who are going to read the books I donated. They are still in very good condition and they are enjoyable.
  • What did you do?
I collected some of my books that I have already read and bought some new ones to donate to the library.
  • When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on Wednesday, November 28. It was actually during third period of school classes, so I had to be excused to do it.

Part 3
  • How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went really well, I felt good to help other people and make a difference somehow.
  • What happened?
What happened was Patricia and I went to the Children’s Library in Health Science Center, then we met Emma. She was the representative from the Children’s Library. She asked us some questions about Pay It forward and she told us what she was going to do with the books. She said most of them will go in the library then some in waiting rooms. Afterwards we got a picture of us with Emma holding a few of the books we donated.
  • How did you feel?
During my Pay It Forward act of kindness I felt really glad and excited. I am also looking forward of doing more acts of kindness. It just makes me feel happy to help others, like heart-warming.
  • How did the person or people react?
The person that guided us, Emma, was very thankful and grateful. I also think she was very happy. Now there are more books at the library for people to read and appreciate.
  • Did you ask the person or people to “Pay It Forward”?
Yes, we did ask the person to “Pay It Forward”. We told her what it was about, also in each of  my two bags of books I placed cards that also asked to keep the chain of “Pay It Forward” going.
  • How did they react to your request?
Emma was very nice, she liked the idea of paying it forward and wanted to be a part of it. She said she was going to help other people and tell them about “Pay It Forward”.

Part 4
  • Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
The idea of “Pay It Forward” important because it shows how one act of kindness can turn into one big deal. It will help us make a difference in the world together.
  • Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I think my act of kindness did make a difference somehow. I made a difference by donating and sharing my books, so other people could be pleased with it. They could enjoy them and learn a thing or two. Also the library doesn’t have to buy new books anymore. By helping those people, they could also participate in "Pay It Forward" and help make a difference.

Math Questions

Questions:

1. 3/4 x 1/3

2. 2/5 / 2/3

3. 5/6 / 1/3

Math Questions

Here are the three math questions we had to do.

The first one is  3/4 x 1/3.

So to get the answer you just have to multiply the numerators, and the denominators. So 3x1=3. And 4x3=12. So the answer is 3/12. What is 3/4 of 1/5

So the picture for this question looks like this.

So you see how you colour in 3/4, and then only take 1/3 of the 3/4; and that equals 3/12
What is 2/5 shared with 2/3

Okay so the next question is 2/5 / 2/3
So to get the answer to this question, you have to get a reciprocal.

So the answer to this question is 3/5

So now to get the picture it

Sorry if you can't see it a bit.......

So now for the final question. 5/6 / 1/3

So the reciprocal for this question is 3/1. So 5x3 and 6x1 = 15/6= 2 and 1/2.
How many groups of 1/3 are in 5/6

So that's the picture.

My Test Corrections

Elisha's Pay it Forward

Part 1

To me, pay it forward is when one person tries to do one act of kindness to three people with nothing in return. The people that the person helped try to do an act of kindness to three other people as well. So one person equals three people to help and it keeps on going.

Part 2

My pay it forward act of kindness was sending Christmas presents to kids in Africa who couldn't afford to buy there own Christmas presents. I choose this activity because Christmas was close by and I know that there are kids who are less fortunate than other people and wouldn't get something very special on such a very special holiday. I helped kids in Africa or areas in the world who had extreme poverty. I took a shoe box and put things like school supplies, toys, hygiene items such as tooth brushes and combs/brushes and a personal note saying a message. I packed about 8-10 boxes. I had to label it either a girl or a boy and I also had to choose an appropriate age group for what age the boxes should be given to. Then I sent them to Operation Christmas Child Samaritans Purse so they can deliver it to the kids who would be getting it. I did this act of kindness on November 9, 2013.

Part 3

My act of kindness went good. Sometime in December, kids would be receiving there Christmas gifts/boxes. I felt very happy for doing this. Just knowing that at least one or two people that I helped will be happy. This made me very glad that I can do these kind of stuff. In the boxes that I sent I left a message. It said,
"Have a nice holiday and I hope you pay it forward."
I explained in the note what "Pay it Forward" meant and I said that giving one act of kindness can make a big difference in that person's life. It would be hard for me to see those people's reaction because I don't know them and they live some where else in the world. I just hope that they actually have some thoughts in doing pay it forward and hope that their reaction is a good reaction.

Part 4

I think that "Pay it Forward" is important because it helps you realize that one person can make a big difference. It can start with one person and as soon as you realize it, millions of people are trying to make a difference in someone's life just as what you are trying to do. To me, making a difference isn't that hard to do. I think my kindness made a difference because I helped kids who are less fortunate than others. They would be getting something that they wouldn't be able to afford. Christmas is the time to be mostly giving so I, took my time and gave them something to look forward to for Christmas and it didn't take me that long to do.

12. It takes 2 1/2 scoops of flour to make one cake. how many do 15 scoops make?

2 1/2 + 2 1/2 = 5 x 3 = 15
2 1/2 x 4 = 10
2 1/2 x 6 = 15

13. Three quarters of a can of apple juice fills six glass. How many glass will  a whole can of apple juice fill?

3/4 is 6 glass's divide that by three and it's 2 or 1/4 add that to 3/4 that's 4/4, 8 glass or 1 can of juice.
